House Cabrah has been built on Sheldon Cabrah's ability to say the wrong thing at the right time. A social climber, Sheldon has an amiable personality that gives him access to people who don't realize that he is only out to satisfy his own interests. His usual modus is to gain the confidence of someone within a house or guild that he wishes influence within and play them for information. He quietly collects this information, and holds it until such time that it'll be useful to him. When this time comes, he uses the info regardless of what it will do to his, up until now, confidant. By doing this, he ingratiates himself to their house elder at the cost of their reputation. Needless to say, several people aren't very fond of Sheldon.

This has, however, allowed him to make strategic alliances with several individuals and two houses, Danwick and LaBrossiere. He has manipulated these two into believing that they are allied with Cabrah for mutual protection from the predations of House Noretti. Of course, Dominick Noretti currently has no interest in Houses Danwick or LaBrossiere but this belief does serve to keep Sheldon's "friends" close. Many have suggested that Dominick Noretti is aware of Sheldon's game and the hunted has become the hunter. Time will only tell.

Except for the intricate web of its founder, House Cabrah only has a tenuous hold of the fourth rank. Many houses are more powerful and better organized. A strategic alliance with the Alchemists Guild is the only thing that affords Cabrah any influence. The Alchemist's Guild is known for not associating closely with any house. Cabrah is simply THE closest. House Cabrah often brokers purchases for other houses by whispering the right words in the right guildmaster's ear. It is well known that Sheldon Cabrah and Stewart Tam, the head of the Alchemist's Guild, are childhood friends. This should continue until Sheldon finds sufficient reason to sell Stewart out.

Recent rumors indicate that Sheldon Cabrah may have gained some influence within the Teamster's Guild. This would help explain the new tensions between them and the Slaver's. Some suggest that this is a move by Cabrah to destablize Fantesca.
