I write poetry, some better than others, and all about whatever topic strikes me as interesting for word play.  I have written poems for use as lore in my roleplaying games, and as lyrics for a friend of mine to set to music.  I enjoy the exacting requirements of rhyme and meter, and some of the lore poems I have done in specific ancient styles (such as Germanic poetry, which uses first sound consonant rhymes) to invoke a feel for a character or situation.  It provides a fascinating study of language usage, as well as how we hear words used - internal rhyme gives greater emphasis to a line than end rhyme alone, and slant rhyme can take emphasis away from a phrase, for instance.

Hopefully some of these will amuse.

I love exploring how people think, why we believe what we believe, and how those beliefs have changed over time.  Mythology has always fascinated me, not just for what the myths tell us about the beliefs of ancient peoples but for what our intepretation of those myths tells about us.  Our prejudices color our world view.  I love the symbolism and history of fire and humanity, and have been fascinated by how it is used in myth and legend.  I have noticed over the years a connection among myths related to hearthkeepers, deities of hearth, home, and fire, and the Trickster gods.  These are some of the connections I've worked out exploring those concepts.

I love words, and I especially love elegant words, words that make you think and pause to reflect.  So I have a list of some of my favorite quotes, some by people I already respected, some by people I had never heard of until one of their comments caught my attention.  It says as much about me as them that they are on this list.  I will be adding it to the site as I can sort and catalog the comments.
